Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 4   AIL 0308 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Either Half Can Kill an Option

Captions available

The idea

A compound option is wrong if either half fails. That makes elimination fast: test the less likely half first and discard the whole option when it misses. Candidates who read compound options as a single impression lose the leverage the structure hands them.

In practice

Test the weaker half first.

Where people slip

Half wrong is wholly wrong.
