Trap: Dating by Subject

The idea

Nature does not mean Romantic, and satire does not mean eighteenth century. Austen is the standing counter-example on manner and date. Unit eight and unit sixteen both warned against dating from a single feature, and this band is where the warning matters most.

In practice

Subject does not date a passage.

Where people slip

Austen is the counter-example.
