The idea

Sentences remain long, particularly in the Victorian novel, but inversion is rarer than in the seventeenth century. Unit two's parse still applies to a Dickens period sentence, which can run a full paragraph before its main clause completes.

In practice

Long, but less inverted.

Where people slip

A sentence may run a paragraph.
