The idea
Find the main verb. If that fails, find the subject and work outward. If that fails, read the last two lines, which in his verse usually restate or resolve the rest. Three fallbacks, in that order, and one of them almost always works.
In practice
Verb, subject, then the last two lines.
Where people slip
Three fallbacks, in order.
