Flat and Round: Complexity
Captions available
The idea
Flat and round describe how much of a person is shown. A flat character has one or two traits and is fully accounted for by them. A round character has enough interior life to surprise. This axis says nothing about whether anyone changes.
In practice
How much of a person is shown.
Where people slip
Complexity, not change.
