The idea
Wilson's American Century Cycle, also called the Pittsburgh Cycle, is a ten-play series set one play to each decade of the twentieth century. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom covers the twenties, and he won Pulitzer Prizes for Fences and The Piano Lesson.
