Invisibility as the Book's Argument
Captions available
The idea
The witness states the point exactly: the invisible man is invisible not in himself but because others, blinded by prejudice, cannot see him for who he is. The novel indicts a society for failing to give its citizens, Black and white, workable ideals and the institutions to reach them.
In practice
Invisible because others will not look.
Where people slip
The blindness belongs to the viewers.
