American Government / Unit 2 Gov 084 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The Mirrored Design of State Governments
Captions available
The idea
State governments mirror the national design: an elected legislature, a governor as executive, and state courts.
In practice
Separation of powers repeats at the state level, one constitution down.
Where people slip
Mirroring is state choice, not federal command — the national Constitution requires only a republican form.
