American Government / Unit 6 Gov 260 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The Three-Part Party
Captions available
The idea
A party lives in three places: the party in the electorate, the party organization, and the party in government.
In practice
A registered supporter, a county committee, and a caucus of legislators are all one party.
Where people slip
The three parts can disagree — "the party decided" always needs a which.
