The Margin of Error

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

The margin of error is the range around a poll's reported number inside which the true population value likely falls.

Show

A candidate at 43 percent with an 8-point margin could sit anywhere from 35 to 51.

Watch for

Small margins mark quality; an 8-point margin is far too high.
