ACT Preparation / Unit 16 ACT 1501 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Two Kinds of Passage
Captions available
The idea
Reading passages are literary narratives or informational texts, and one part pairs two shorter passages. Each passage opens with a heading naming its author and source.
In practice
A heading might say a passage comes from a novel set in the 1990s, or from an article on river ecology.
Where people slip
Read the heading: it can give background the passage assumes.
